Ryan Castel Conquers Mt Cook

 Mt Cook

September 2009

Ryan Castel, our mountain climbing staff member has been busy conquering mountains again, this time Mt Cook on the New Zealand South Island. Mt Cook is 3,764 m. Just a baby compared to Mt Cho Oyu (see story below).

When he's not climbing mountains Ryan is a Team Leader at Airlabs Environmental and travels extensively mostly climbing stacks rather than mountains! Next time he visits your work site to do stack and emission testing, do remember to ask him about his mountain experiences.

October 2008

Ryan Castel one of our testing engineers has just returned from an expedition which climbed Mount Cho Oyu, the sixth highest mountain in the world in the Himalayas.

Ryan is not new to mountain climbing but this mountain certainly tested his ability and endurance. It was great to hear from Ryan on 13 October 2008 to tell us that:

"I am back safe in Kathmandu. We arrived back last night after a rough trip across the Tibetan plateau. And down the pass back to Nepal.

Currently we are back in Kathmandu sorting out the aftermath of our expedition. Gear has to go back into storage a lot of tents were ripped and poles snapped in the wind. Rob and I summitted at 12:00 and 12:15 on the 2/10/2008 Chinese time. The descent turned out to be epic".

Watch this site for photographs of the clean air Ryan found at the summit!
